TO THE FIREFLIES. She directed, produced and edited

Kerri Gawryn is from California where she directed and produced two award-winning documentary films. EXPOSING HOMELESSNESS, a 22-minute documentary, chronicled the experiences of three formerly homeless women in San Francisco as they learned to express themselves and educate others about homelessness through the art of photography. EXPOSING HOMELESSNESS won the Best Local Voice award from the San Francisco Women’s Film Festival, was selected as SF Weekly’s Pick of the Week, and was prominently featured in the San Francisco Chronicle. In 2007, Gawryn began work on A LOVELY DAY, a documentary that follows nine Oakland youth immersed in a six-month Hip-Hop music therapy workshop. A LOVELY DAY was completed in 2013, followed shortly by a preview screening to a sold-out crowd of supporters at the historic Grand Lake Theatre in Oakland. In the spring of 2013, the documentary had its festival premiere at the 44th Nashville Film Festival, where it won the 2013 NAHCC Best Hispanic Interest Film Award and subsequently screened at numerous festivals. A LOVELY DAY was broadcast on Public Broadcasting Station KQED and on cable network station Revolt TV before securing online distribution. In 2018 Gawryn moved to New York City where she began writing and pre-production on TO THE FIREFLIES.
